Rich Learning, Great Fun in the National Capital!

With Highton and Bellarine Campus students travelling together to Canberra one week, and Surf Coast students making the trip the next week, the first ever Year 6 camp to the nation’s capital was an unforgettable experience and an incredible opportunity for students to bring their classroom learning to life in Australia’s capital city.

Across five busy and exciting days, students immersed themselves in Australia’s history, democracy, legal system and national identity through a range of engaging and memorable experiences. Every day provided new opportunities to deepen their understanding of how Australia functions as a nation, have great fun and create lasting memories with their peers.

Throughout the week, students visited a wide range of significant national locations including Parliament House, National Capital Exhibition, Australian War Memorial, the High Court of Australia, the Royal Australian Mint, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, the National Gallery of Australia, Questacon, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the National Museum of Australia. Students also explored ANZAC Parade, enjoyed breathtaking views from Mt Ainslie Lookout, and took part in a guided drive around the embassies and High Commissions of Canberra.
