From the Executive Principal
As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to sincerely thank our families for your ongoing support, partnership and trust. Together, we have shared a term filled with learning, growth and care for our students. Your encouragement at home, engagement with school life and ongoing collaboration with our staff make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing and success of every child. Our staff have also worked with great dedication and professionalism this term, and we are grateful for the way our whole community continues to work together with a shared commitment to excellence, care and service.
Over the recent weeks it has been wonderful to see the many signs and celebrations of Easter across our campuses. Our students have joyfully participated in Easter bonnet parades, Easter services and classroom activities that have helped bring this important season to life. We have also been proud of the way our students have reached beyond the school gates, visiting local businesses to share Easter cards and Easter eggs as a way of blessing and thanking those in our wider community. These moments reflect our Christian values in action, sharing hope, kindness and generosity, and providing meaningful opportunities for students to live out their faith.
As we enter the Easter holidays, we are reminded of the true heart of Easter: the hope found in Christ’s sacrificial love, His death and resurrection, and the promise of new life. It is a message of grace, renewal and hope that sits at the centre of who we are as a Christian community. We wish all our families a safe, joyful and refreshing holiday break. We hope this time together provides opportunities to rest, reconnect and enjoy special moments with loved ones
I would also like to acknowledge the many staff members who continue working behind the scenes during the holidays. Their ongoing commitment ensures our school continues to run smoothly, and their efforts are deeply appreciated.
Apart from Easter celebrations and sports carnivals, this week I also had the pleasure of attending the Top Class Music and Sound 2026 Showcase in Melbourne as part of the VCE Season of Excellence, alongside our Year 10, 11 and 12 music students. We are incredibly proud of Year 12 student Felix, who was selected as one of only a small number of students from across the state to perform at this event. This is a significant achievement and a wonderful recognition of Felix’s talent, dedication and hard work, as well as the guidance of his music teachers. Please join me in congratulating Felix on an outstanding performance.
Thank you once again for being such an important part of our school community. We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 2 on Tuesday April 21.
From The Head of Campus
As we reach the end of Term 1, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a wonderful and fulfilling start to the year. It has been a busy term filled with exciting learning experiences, community events, and new beginnings. From welcoming our new preps and Year 7 students to celebrating special moments like the Leaders Investiture, excursions, and the Bible Presentations, there has been much to enjoy and be grateful for.
With Easter approaching, we are reminded of the hope and renewal that this season brings. Easter is a significant time in the Christian calendar, encouraging us to reflect on the love, sacrifice, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time to come together, celebrate with loved ones, and embrace the joy of new beginnings.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our families for your support throughout this term. Your involvement, encouragement, and partnership with our school community make such a difference in the experiences of our students. Whether it has been attending events, volunteering, or simply cheering on your children as they grow and learn, we truly appreciate all that you do.
As we head into the holiday break, we encourage everyone to take this time to rest, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. We wish you all a blessed Easter and a safe and refreshing holiday period.
We look forward to welcoming you back for Term 2 on Tuesday April 21st, for another exciting and enriching term ahead.
Wishing you a joyful and peaceful Easter.

Easter Celebrations
As we came to the end of Term 1, our school community gathered to celebrate and reflect on the true meaning of Easter in a joyful and meaningful way.
The day began with a wonderful display of creativity and colour as students from Butterfield House through to Year 6 proudly took part in our annual Easter Bonnet Parade. It was a delight to see the effort and imagination that had gone into each bonnet, with students showcasing a range of bright, festive, and beautifully crafted designs. The parade was filled with smiles, laughter, and a strong sense of community as we celebrated together.
To conclude the term, we gathered for our Easter Service, where our Year 6 students led us in remembering the significance of Easter. Through their words and reflections, they reminded us of the hope, sacrifice, and love at the heart of the Easter story, and what it means for us as a Christian school community.
Another Big Week in Prep!
What a busy and exciting week it has been in Prep! Our students have been learning, laughing and making wonderful memories together.
Alphabet Day was a huge celebration. The classrooms were filled with creativity as students came dressed as their favourite letters from the alphabet. Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of fun and engaging activities, including forming letters using their bodies, dancing along to the alphabet, and participating in many other hands-on learning experiences. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and consolidation of letters and sounds they have learnt so far this year.
We were also very lucky to welcome the Flying Bookworm Theatre Company to our school. The students helped bring classic fairy tales to life, including The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff and more. There was lots of laughter and excitement as the children joined in with the performances and enjoyed the thrill of storytelling.
To finish off our fun-filled week, the Prep students enjoyed a special visit to the beach with their Year 4 buddies. Spending time together outdoors was the perfect way to end such a busy week, and the smiles said it all — it was the best!
We are so proud of our Prep students for their enthusiasm, participation and positive attitudes throughout the entire Term. Go Preps!
Year 2’s Wonderful Work: So Much to Celebrate!
Our Year 2 students have been working incredibly hard on their end-of-term assessment tasks, and they have done an amazing job! It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication shine through in all their work.
As part of their learning, students created a beautiful poster highlighting four key events in the story of Moses. They thoughtfully explored the story and presented their understanding in creative and meaningful ways.
In addition, the students produced an informative book all about Japan. They researched and shared fascinating facts, showcasing both their curiosity and their growing skills as independent learners.
For their IDL project, each student also designed a flip poster based on an Australian state or territory of their choice. These projects were filled with interesting information and demonstrated the effort and pride students have taken in their learning.
We are so proud of the amazing efforts shown by all Year 2 students – they should be very proud of themselves!
We wish everyone a wonderful Easter holiday and look forward to seeing our Year 2 students continue to grow and thrive in Term 2.
Multiplying Success in Year 4
The Year 4 students have finished the term with a strong focus on multiplication, showing high levels of engagement and enthusiasm for their learning. They explored a range of strategies to support learning and help commit these important number facts to memory. This week, students enjoyed maths rotations, working collaboratively through times table games, Times Table Rock Stars on their devices, a multiplication booklet, and guided sessions with their teacher to solve more complex problems using MAB to support understanding. Students particularly enjoyed learning together and supporting one another as they built confidence with multiplication.
Year 5 Excursion to the City
Our Year 5 students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion into the city, travelling by train into Melbourne. After arriving at Southern Cross Station, we walked together along the Yarra River, taking in the sights as we made our way to our first destination.
During the day, students visited ACMI and the National Gallery of Victoria. At the gallery, students explored a range of famous Australian and Indigenous artworks, developing their appreciation for different artistic styles and cultural perspectives.
A highlight of the day was our visit to ACMI, where students were highly engaged as they explored the history of television, film and video games. The interactive exhibits were a real favourite, allowing students to immerse themselves in the evolution of media and storytelling.
The students represented the school with pride, demonstrating excellent behaviour on public transport and throughout the day. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning beyond the classroom and created lasting memories together.
Easter Blessings in Our Community
In the lead-up to Easter, our Year 7 and Year 8 students had the opportunity to share joy and kindness with our wider community.
Our Year 7 students visited local businesses in Torquay, handing out Easter blessing cards and Easter eggs to staff and patrons. With friendly smiles and thoughtful conversations, they brought a simple but meaningful message of hope to those they met.
Our Year 8 students had a similar experience in Anglesea, connecting with local businesses and community members as they shared their Easter blessings. They represented our school with maturity and care, embracing the chance to serve others.
These experiences were a wonderful reflection of the Easter message love, generosity, and hope. We are proud of the way our students lived this out and made a positive impact in our community.
That’s a Wrap
What a huge first term it has been for our Year 8 students! They have been involved in a wide range of activities both in and out of the classroom. It has been wonderful to see their growth, as they have embraced new opportunities and challenged themselves in meaningful ways.
This week, our Year 8 students stepped out of their comfort zones during our trip to Anglesea, where they shared Easter Blessings with local businesses and members of the public. It was a joy to watch them engage with the community and confidently represent Christian College.
We have also begun conversations about what leadership will look like in Year 9, including the process we will undertake this year to appoint our first school prefect and leadership team for 2027. Experiences like these play an important role in preparing students for those opportunities.
In addition, we have had students proudly represent the school in recent sporting events, with three boys competing in the GISSA Surfing Championships and five students taking part in the GISSA Swimming Championships.
It is a privilege to watch our students continue to grow, challenge themselves, and make the most of the opportunities before them. We are looking forward to an even bigger and better Term 2.
Digital Technologies at Surf Coast Campus
Digital Technologies continues to be a vibrant and engaging specialist learning subject at Surf Coast Campus, where students are encouraged to explore, create, and develop essential skills for the future. Through a range of interactive and hands-on experiences, students engage with both educational and real-world concepts while building confidence in using technology in safe and responsible ways. Digital learning also supports individual growth, allowing students to learn at their own pace within a supportive classroom environment.
Throughout Term 1, students from Prep to Year 4 have enthusiastically participated in their weekly Digital Technologies lessons. Our Prep students have taken their first exciting steps into the digital world, learning about the functions of different keys on a keyboard and discovering how computers can support learning and creativity. Meanwhile, Year 4 students have reached an important milestone, beginning to use their own school devices and developing a strong sense of independence and responsibility alongside their growing digital skills.
Students in Years 1 and 2 have continued to build their digital literacy, focusing on online safety and exploring how technology has evolved over time. In Year 3, students have taken on the role of young computer technicians, investigating how computers work and learning about the internal and external components that allow technology to function.
A key focus of our program is maintaining a healthy balance. Lessons incorporate both on-screen and unplugged activities, encouraging mindful use of technology while highlighting the many ways it can enhance learning.
With new discoveries being made each week, Digital Technologies remains a highlight of the Surf Coast timetable, inspiring curiosity, creativity, and confidence in all learners.

From The Chaplain
This week at Surf Coast, we’ve have had the opportunity to celebrate Lent and start to prepare for Easter. As part of our Easter preparation and celebration, we have explored some new traditions and enjoyed some existing ones.
Throughout Monday, our students had the opportunity to join in The Greening Of The Gates, a new tradition for CCG in which we cover our entrance to our school with flowers, branches, and greenery, and on Wednesday morning, our staff covered our Campus cross with greenery in a special staff service.
These two ‘greenings’ are symbols of celebration of the new life and abundance that Jesus offers us, which we remember each year at Easter. The greened gates and the greened cross help us all to see and reflect.
At our Easter service on Thursday, we had the opportunity to hear about some of the words of Jesus, when He said “follow me”, “love one another”, and “it is finished”, and to find out how they connect to Easter. We had the chance to remember Jesus’ resurrection, or His coming back to life, and to remember that we are invited to come ‘back to life’ with Him.
I hope that you and your family have a wonderful school holidays and Easter, and that this time can be an amazing time of reflection, celebration, and joy.
Matthew 28:5-8
“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples.”
Book Easter Egg Design Competition
To celebrate Easter in the library, students had the opportunity to participate in the annual ‘Book Easter Egg Design Competition.’ They were challenged to use their creativity and love for books to create a unique, book-themed Easter egg design. This year, almost 150 students across the campus submitted an entry for the competition, with a handful of students from each year level selected as finalists.
The competition is a wonderful way for our students to showcase their creativity while sharing their favourite books, stories and characters with their peers.
Congratulations to all participants!
Hot Cross Buns to Handel!
This week 25 young musicians from all five campuses of the Christian College Music Program gathered in the RW Gibson Music Performance Centre (Senior Campus) to showcase their talent and hard work at the Cross-Campus Brass Evening. Families and friends enjoyed a celebration of sound from instruments high and low including the Tuba, Euphonium, Trombone, French Horn and Trumpet.
Brass students ranging from Prep to Year 12 performed solos and duets accompanied by Regina Thomae, Tammy Treloar and Brad Treloar. Their repertoire featured music from AMEB Preliminary to Grade 8 and VCE Music Unit 4 (beginner to advanced level), highlighting the breadth of tuition available from the talented brass staff at CCG. Currently 62 students are learning a brass instrument in CCG’s Instrumental Music Program.
Our brass teachers Sean Rankin, Rob Moffatt and Andrew Dunlop (Director of Instrumental Music) are all immensely proud of these student performers. There was raucous celebration and encouragement for these students from the audience, acknowledging their growth in musicianship and the confidence and courage it takes to perform. The roof nearly lifted off when all 25 students buzzed on their mouthpieces to Hot Cross Buns in time for Easter!
Congratulations to all our performers from Wednesday night.
Regional Swimming Championships
On Tuesday this week, eight students from our Bellarine, Highton and Surf Coast campuses competed at the Regional Swimming Championships, held at Kardinia Pool on a beautiful sunny day. The event brought together the top swimmers from across the region, providing a fantastic opportunity for our students to challenge themselves and perform at their best.
It was wonderful to see so many personal bests achieved throughout the day, along with some outstanding individual results.
In the 12–13 girls’ events, Nellie.G delivered an impressive performance, finishing 1st in the butterfly and 2nd in the breaststroke in a very close race. Primrose.B also competed strongly, placing 2nd in the backstroke in a tight finish and 3rd in the butterfly. In the 12–13 girl’s multiclass events, Zelda.M had an outstanding meet, finishing 1st in both the freestyle and breaststroke.
In the boys’ events, Charlie. B placed 9th in the 12–13 boys butterfly, while Alex.W finished 8th in the 11-year-old boys breaststroke.
Our 11-year-old girls also performed strongly, with Emilia.M finishing 4th in the backstroke. In the multiclass events, Imogen.B achieved an incredible result, finishing 1st in the freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Dane.S also had a fantastic day, finishing 1st in both the freestyle and backstroke in the 11-year-old boys multiclass events.
Congratulations to all students on their effort, sportsmanship and willingness to compete against some of the best swimmers in the region.
A special mention to Nellie, Imogen and Dane, who have qualified for the State Championships on Thursday 23rd of April. We wish them all the very best and look forward to following their progress.
Spotlight on Wellbeing
As we approach the school holidays, it's important to remind ourselves of the value of rest, relaxation and personal wellbeing for both students and their families. The break from the usual school routine provides a much-needed pause—an opportunity to recharge, reset, and reconnect. After a busy term filled with learning, stepping back can have a powerful impact on mental, emotional, and physical health.
This time away allows families to slow down and be more present with one another. Whether it’s sharing meals, enjoying outdoor adventures, or simply having unhurried conversations, these moments help strengthen relationships and create lasting memories. Encouraging children to maintain a balance of rest and activity during the holidays can also support their overall wellbeing and help them return to school feeling refreshed and ready to learn.
For those looking for fun and enriching ways to spend the holidays, the Geelong region offers a wide variety of activities for students of all ages. From exploring beautiful coastal walks and local parks, to visiting museums, libraries, and community events, there are plenty of opportunities to stay active, curious, and engaged. Families might enjoy a day at the waterfront, a trip to nearby nature reserves, or participating in holiday programs designed to inspire creativity and learning in a relaxed environment.
No matter how you choose to spend the break, we encourage all families to take the time to unwind, prioritise wellbeing, and make the most of this special time together.
The Wellbeing Team wishes all families have a wonderful and blessed Easter with one another.
