From the Head of Campus
We were thrilled to see the wonderful turnout of families on Tuesday night at our Welcome to Senior School Evening. It provided a fantastic platform for parents to connect with subject teachers, Heads of House, House Mentors, and various members of the campus leadership team, including chaplains, careers practitioners, and learning support coordinators. Building these early connections between staff and families sets a positive tone for the year ahead, and we’re excited to nurture and strengthen these relationships as the year unfolds.
As we move forward, mark your calendars for next Wednesday, February 14, when we’ll kick off the first major sporting event of the year: the House Athletics Competition at Landy Field. Our Houses have been diligently preparing their teams for the track and field events, along with organising fun novelty activities like tug-of-war and shuttle relays. It promises to be a day filled with vibrant competition and a strong sense of community spirit. Keep an eye out for an email that our Senior School Sports Coordinator, Mr Andrew Tucker, sent yesterday for full details.
Additionally, we’re eagerly anticipating the Senior School Prefect Investiture next week, starting at 8.55am at the Middle School Sports and Aquatic Centre. This significant event allows us to formally recognise and pray for our College and House Prefects as they take on their roles of service for the year. Already, our student leaders have been actively involved, with House Prefects leading the charge in organising teams for the House Athletics, while the College Prefects have been busy planning several initiatives to serve our campus in the areas of wellbeing, community building, sustainability and the environment, and faith building.
A quick reminder that canteen days at Senior School are on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. At Senior School, ordering is over the counter only, with no online sales.
With Term 1 shaping up to be action-packed, there’s much to look forward to for both students and parents alike. From exciting opportunities within and beyond the classroom to numerous ways for parents to get involved, we’re excited to embark on this journey together.

Japan Long-Term Exchange Program
Our long-term exchange students, Djinda, Supreet, and Niko, have successfully completed their 4-month exchange program in Japan. Upon their return, they paid a visit to Mr. O’Loughlin’s office to share their enriching experiences. They began their journey in September 2023, residing with host families of Naga students and attending Naga High School each day.
Their previous interactions with Naga students during their visit to our school last August laid the groundwork for strong connections with Naga teachers and students. Reuniting with familiar faces during their time in Japan was a source of joy for them.
The reciprocal exchange of students between our school and Naga High School has proven to be incredibly fruitful in fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship. Djinda, Supreet, and Niko’s immersion in Japanese culture, language, and daily life has undeniably broadened their horizons and enriched their educational journey.
Throughout their time in Japan, the students actively engaged in school activities, bonded with their host families, and delved into Japan’s rich cultural heritage. They embraced every opportunity to immerse themselves in local customs and traditions, further deepening their appreciation for Japanese culture.
Their presence at Naga High School not only facilitated cultural exchange but also served as a testament to the diversity and excellence of our educational community. The bonds forged between our students and their Japanese counterparts highlight the transformative power of international exchange programs in fostering global citizenship and cooperation.
As Djinda, Supreet, and Niko reflected on their journey, they expressed gratitude for the support and guidance provided by Christian College Geelong. Their exchange experience has left an enduring impact, sparking a lifelong passion for cultural exchange and cross-cultural communication.
Exciting exchange programs are on the horizon within the Japanese faculty, including:
- Long-term exchange program 2024-2025
- Wakayama High School Students’ International Conference in Japan
