From The Executive Principal
As we reach the end of another remarkable term, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary breadth of opportunities our students have embraced over the past months. Term 2 has been filled with learning, challenge, creativity, service, adventure and celebration. Most importantly, it has been a term in which we have seen our young people continue to grow as people of character, compassion and purpose.
It is difficult to capture all that has occurred within a single newsletter article. Our sporting calendar has been as busy as ever. House Soccer, the Elevate basketball program and numerous interschool sporting competitions have enabled students to challenge themselves, represent the College with pride and learn the value of teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship.
Our community has been inspired by the outstanding performances of students in Godspell, a production that showcased remarkable talent, dedication and teamwork. Students have travelled far and wide, from the Canberra Trip to the Indonesia Study Tour and the Our World journeys through Central Australia, each experience broadening perspectives and deepening understanding of the diverse world in which we live.
We have gathered as a community to celebrate Anzac Day, Reconciliation Week, Mother's Day, cross-campus music nights and special assemblies. Thank you to all who joined us for these special occasions where we build community together. Across the College, students have participated in a vast range of camps, excursions and farm stays that have enriched their learning and fostered independence, resilience and connection.
Our commitment to authentic learning experiences has continued through opportunities such as the Forensic Science Partnership with Deakin University, providing students with valuable insights into future pathways and real-world applications of their studies. We have also enjoyed reconnecting with former students through an Alumni Reunion and special Careers Week visits, celebrating the enduring bonds that make our College community so special.
This weekend, we celebrate with our Year 11 students and families at the Presentation Balls, a significant milestone in the life of our young people. Next week, our staff will participate in a three-day retreat, a valuable opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving, learning and renewal as we continue our shared mission of supporting every student to flourish. And on Thursday, our College Prefects will depart on a 12-day immersion experience to Timor Leste. Our College has enjoyed a long and meaningful partnership with communities in Viqueque, and this journey represents another chapter in our commitment to service learning, and global citizenship. I look forward to joining in on this transformative experience this year.
When I consider everything that has taken place this term, I am reminded of the extraordinary opportunities available within one school community. Each experience – whether on the stage, in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the Australian outback, overseas, or in service to others – plays a role in shaping young people who are capable, confident and compassionate.
We see the greatest growth in our students when they develop a genuine other-centred outlook; when they begin to understand that their gifts, talents and education are not simply for personal success, but for making a positive difference in the lives of others. These experiences help nurture empathy, leadership, resilience and a commitment to contributing to the common good. They are helping to form young people who will leave our College ready to engage with the world with both courage and humility.
Thank you to our families for your ongoing partnership and support. The encouragement, care and guidance you provide at home are critical in helping your young people thrive. Together, we continue to create an environment in which students can grow, learn and become the very best versions of themselves.
I wish all students and families a restful and enjoyable holiday break. May the coming weeks provide opportunities to recharge, spend quality time together and enjoy a well-earned change of pace.

Term 2 Wrap Up
As we come to the end of another wonderful term at Middle School – Highton, I’d like to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support, partnership, and trust. It has been a pleasure to see our students continue to grow in confidence, skill, and character across all areas of their learning.
This term has been rich with highlights, from dynamic classroom experiences and creative performances to sporting successes, outdoor adventures, and meaningful community connections. A particular highlight was the Canberra Camp, which was a memorable and enriching experience for many of our staff and Year 6 students. These opportunities, along with many others, have seen our students approach each experience with enthusiasm, resilience, and kindness, and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff for the care, energy, and commitment they bring each day in supporting every student to thrive. To our families, we are so grateful for your encouragement and involvement, it truly makes a difference.
As the break begins, we hope it brings time to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy simple pleasures with family and friends. Whether it’s a quiet break at home or time spent exploring somewhere new, we wish you a safe, relaxing, and happy holiday.

8M Federal Election
The Year 8 students of class 8M recently brought their Civics and Citizenship unit to life with a highly successful election. After learning about the Australian political system and major political parties, students were divided into five groups: The Greens, Labor Party, One Nation, The Nationals, and The Liberals.
Each party demonstrated outstanding creativity and teamwork, producing persuasive brochures, eye-catching posters, informative pamphlets, and confident speeches to promote their party’s values. The level of effort and enthusiasm across all groups was exceptional, highlighting both their understanding of the political process and their ability to collaborate effectively.
The parties were led by a group of impressive student leaders: Josh H for One Nation, Tom R for The Greens, Noah T for Labor, Violet A for the Liberals, and Anna W for the Nationals. The election itself was incredibly close, with strong support for all parties. In an exciting finish, the Nationals secured victory on preferences.
Congratulations to Anna W, who was elected Prime Minister of Australia in this classroom simulation. Well done to all students for their hard work, respectful campaigning, and commitment to the democratic process—an inspiring glimpse into the leaders of tomorrow.

Year 8 Christian Ed
Who am I becoming?
In Christian Education, Year 8 students have been exploring questions of identity, flourishing, self-mastery, and relationships through a Christian worldview. Using the Live Life to the Full workbook, students have reflected on who they are, what influences them, and how their habits, choices, and relationships shape their wellbeing and character. Through guided reflection, discussion and scenarios, students have developed their self-awareness, responsibility, and healthy relationship skills while exploring topics such as self-worth, core values, self-control, the impact of social media, and the importance of positive relationships. The unit emphasises the Christian belief that all people have inherent worth and are created for purposeful, relational living.
As part of their learning, students have recently been creating a final art piece that reflects on what they have learned about themselves, how their choices affect others, and who they are growing into. It has been wonderful to see the creativity and thoughtfulness students have brought to this task, with many developing unique and meaningful representations of their personal growth.
Year 8 students Mia Lester and Millie Tkaczuk made the following reflections: “Through this unit we have learnt more about our personal identity and how to become the best version of ourselves. We have learnt about self-worth, core values, relationship skills, and the impact of social media. A key takeaway was understanding how other people see and treat us, and the importance of practising self-control.”
This unit has provided students with valuable opportunities to reflect on their character, relationships, and faith as they continue to grow into the people God has created them to be.

Year 9 Forensic Science Excursion to Deakin University
Last Wednesday a select group of Year 9 students had the exciting opportunity to visit Deakin University and participate in a hands-on Forensic Science Day. The excursion provided students with a fascinating insight into the world of forensic investigation and the important role science plays in solving crimes.
Upon arrival, students were introduced to a mock crime scene and challenged to work as forensic investigators. Their task was to carefully examine the evidence, analyse the clues, and piece together the events that had occurred in order to identify the offender.
Throughout the day, students explored a range of forensic techniques used by real scientists and investigators. They analysed fingerprint samples, examined DNA evidence, and investigated blood spatter patterns to determine what had happened at the scene. Using critical thinking, observation skills, and scientific reasoning, students worked collaboratively to build a case and solve the mystery.
The experience allowed students to apply their classroom learning in an authentic setting while gaining an appreciation for the diverse careers available in forensic science and related STEM fields. The activities challenged students to think like scientists, interpret evidence, and make informed conclusions based on their findings.
We would like to thank Deakin University for hosting such an engaging and educational experience. The excursion was both informative and enjoyable, and it inspired many students to consider future pathways in science and forensic investigation.

What Does it Mean to Live a Good Life?
This term in our Year 9 Worldview class, we have been looking at ‘The Good Life’ and what it means to live with purpose, happiness, and meaning. Students have explored their own worldview and the influences that shape their beliefs, alongside ancient philosophical ideas about human flourishing.
As a culmination of this learning, students created a “Good Life Blueprint” a timeline mapping life from birth through to their 70’s and beyond. In this task, they identified key stages, values, and choices they believe will lead to a fulfilling life, drawing on their own experiences as well as their hopes for the future.
This reflective and creative process has also prepared students to engage in meaningful conversations with residents at Charles Brownlow Retirement Village, which we did earlier this week. It was a beautiful morning, a coming together of our Year 9s as they stand on the cusp of young adulthood, and the residents who have all lived long, full, diverse lives. The residents enjoyed the visit and chance to chat with our young people, and our students gained powerful, heartfelt real-life insights into what it truly means to live a good life.

We are delighted to share with our community the success of this year’s Year 6 Canberra Trip. Our students represented our school with pride, enthusiasm, and exemplary behaviour throughout the experience. The trip provided a rich opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of Australia’s history, government, and national identity through engaging, hands-on learning. Our Year 6 students also looked wonderful in their commemorative jumpers!
With such a positive experience behind us, we are already excitedly planning for the 2027 Year 6 Canberra Trip. We look forward to offering another enriching and inspiring opportunity for our future Year 6 students.

Current Year 5 students are invited to take part in a creative design initiative for the 2027 Year 6 jumper!
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to contribute to a meaningful keepsake that will mark the final year of their journey through the primary years. We encourage students to get creative and design a concept that reflects school spirit and incorporates our College colours.
Design Options
Students may choose one of the following styles:
- Sash Style: A diagonal design across the jumper
- Banner Style: A horizontal design across the top, middle, or bottom of the jumper
Submission Details
- Designs should be hand-drawn
- Submissions are to be given to Year 5 Homeroom Teachers
- Due date: End of Week 5, Term 3
Please note, this is a completely optional activity, but we encourage all interested students to have a go and showcase their creativity! Designs will then be shared across our campuses, before a final decision is made in consultation with the team at Indigo Wolf, who so wonderfully produced our jumper this year.

Australian Youth Classical Music Competition
Congratulations to the Christian College Geelong Finalists!
On May 30th over 30 students from across the region, from Years 7 – 12 auditioned for the AYCMC Regional prizes. Christian College is proud of all its students who auditioned and congratulates them for their work and willingness to grow as performers through this experience.
There were 12 regional finalists selected to perform in the final concert, which was held last Saturday, June 13. Congratulations to our CCG selected finalists!

Thanks so much to Regina Thomae who accompanied and support the students in the lead up to and throughout the auditions and final. Thanks also to their Instrumental teachers Mr Rankin, Mr Gardner and Mr Oliveira for their expert tutorage and continued work in encouraging these music students to continue to aim for excellence in their music.
All three of our students played with musicality, skill, maturity and poise. The competition provides a first prize of $2000 and 3 runner up prizes of $1000. Congratulations to Thomas M. for being awarded one of the Runner Up prizes in this prestigious competition! Thomas performed Sonata for Trumpet and Piano (movements 1&2) by Jean Hubeau on Bb Trumpet, and Trumpet Concerto in Eb by Johann B.G. Neruda on Eb Trumpet.

CCG New Parents and Families Program – an Exciting Initiative!
In 2026, we’re excited to launch our Parents & Families Program, a new initiative designed to bring our community even closer together across all Campuses and Kindergartens.
This program is all about strengthening relationships, creating a genuine sense of belonging, and supporting meaningful opportunities for families to get involved in College life. Membership is open to all parents, guardians and grandparents of students enrolled at Christian College Geelong, including Kindergarten families, and continues for as long as a member has a child attending the relevant campus.

Academic Excellence and Music Excellence Scholarships – Applications Open!
Applications are now open for Academic Excellence Scholarships for entry to Years 5 to 11 in 2028.
Any interested parents, guardians and families with children in Years 3 to 9 in 2026 are welcome to apply, including families who have children currently enrolled at Christian College.
Applications for Academic Excellence scholarships close on August 6.
Also open to both Christian College families, and families with children attending other schools, are our Music Excellence Scholarships. These are open for students entering Years 5 to 12 in 2027 or 2028.
