Back Creek Farm – Scotsburn
Year 9 Program
Learning through experience
The College believes authentic experiences present multiple learning and self development opportunities. Students, removed from their usual routines, in unfamiliar environments, work together with others to achieve shared goals.
Real-life experiences
900 acres of learning
Located just out of Ballarat, Christian College’s Back Creek Farm is a 900 acre dairy farm that presents a unique learning environment for the Year 9 Transformation Program.
Half term, full days
As part of the Year 9 Transformation Program, students live at Back Creek Farm for half a term. The program focuses on character development, community living, independence, and service in faith and of others.
Working together
In small work groups, students learn teamwork and life skills as they’re called on to be chefs, farmers, milkers, tending livestock, fruit and vegetable crops, building friendships and lifelong memories.
Linking paddock to plate
Students work front and back of house at Back Creek Cafe, located down the highway from Back Creek Farm in Meredith. By preparing and serving produce, the link between agriculture and hospitality skills comes to life.
