What a journey it was in 2021 for our Senior School production of ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’! After two dress rehearsals and two lockdowns – (who would have thought that lightning could strike twice?) the cast and band concluded this COVID fraught season with a wonderful performance for some Senior School staff and students early in third term.
Sadly, density and access restrictions prevented a complete season of our show but the small audience were super responsive and gave our cast the boost it needed to produce an exciting wrap up to the show journey. It was also a great privilege to be the first production in the fabulous new RW Gibson Centre for Music Performance.
I am so proud of the cast and band and their ability to roll with the punches. They did not give up – determined to see this show to the best possible conclusion. Their energy, commitment to character and wonderful singing and dancing was a testament to the hard work of all involved.
I would like to thank and acknowledge the extraordinary talent and hard work of musical director Jacquie Anderson, Vocal director Tania Grant and choreographer Year 11 student Mali Wiltshire. You have been a wonderful and most supportive team to work with.
I would also like to acknowledge the hard work of all the production staff, without whom we would not have had a show at all. Ben Anderson in particular, worked tirelessly to set up sound and lighting in the auditorium and his technical and creative skills added so much to the professional look and feel of the show.
We are very blessed to have so many generous and talented people in our College community!
