Full-Time, Ongoing Position at our Back Creek Farm in Scotsdale commencing end of January 2026
At Christian College Geelong, our residential Rural Program offers Year 9 students a life changing experience – an opportunity to step beyond their comfort zone and discover the richness of rural living. Through hands-on learning, students develop resilience, practical skills, and a deeper understanding of the food supply chain, all while embracing the challenges and rewards of farm life. There are also opportunities to work with students across our 5 campuses through short excursions, educating about food supply and farm life.
This role is leading a thriving “paddock to plate” philosophy with a core focus on collaborative working, student engagement and management of the commerce side of the market garden. The role holds responsibility for the design and maintenance of productive gardens, manage seasonal planning and guide students through the practicalities of farming and sustainable food production.
WHAT YOU BRING
You bring a deep commitment to sustainable, regenerative agriculture and the practical expertise to plan, manage, and continually improve a productive market garden. You combine strong horticultural knowledge with an eye for quality, efficiency, and food safety, ensuring produce meets both seasonal demands and high culinary standards. Alongside your technical capability, you bring an entrepreneurial mindset – identifying opportunities to expand the garden’s commercial impact through thoughtful, small‑scale sales channels.
You are an engaging educator who thrives on guiding students through the full “Paddock to Plate” journey, creating hands‑on learning experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and practical skill. You must have a strong commitment to Child Safe principles, practices and protocols. Your engagement style is patient, supportive, and relational, enabling you to mentor students effectively while fostering teamwork and a positive learning environment.
Operationally, you bring strong planning, organisation, and follow‑through, ensuring garden activities run smoothly, resources are used wisely, and tasks are completed to a high standard. You champion innovation and sustainability, encouraging students to think critically about food systems and environmental stewardship. You also contribute willingly to broader farm duties, supporting a safe, inclusive, and collaborative culture across the Rural Program.
